Thankfully our school is still left standing although it sustained some structural damage.  80% of the homes near the school were destroyed. Many people are dead with others injured. This also means that many of our students are homeless and some are hurt. The Baptist mission Hospital nearby was affected by the quake but is still functioning. It ran out of supplies a few days ago and the director of the school and orphanage Jean -Alix Paul donated all of the emergency medical supplies he had to the Hospital. Even though there are a lot of humanitarian aid going to Haiti right now, most if not all of it is focused on Port-Au-Prince which means smaller town are left helpless. Hope for the Hungry is currently on the grounds and working on building new homes and providing shelter for our school children. If you would like to receive a tax receipt for money given to Haiti, Please write a check payable to Hope for the Hungry P.O box 5558 Vernon Hills, IL 60061.  They have been doing work in Haiti since the 1980’s and they will not only help with immediate emergency but will be in Haiti helping with rebuilding for years to come.
